Blackhawk Community Credit Union & Its Members Support Local Food Pantries this Holiday Season

BHCCU 2020 holiday donations campaign.

'Tis the Season of Giving

We have shared Christmases in the past, but never like this before. As we look to our strong future, it is important we keep in mind our mission, to provide value and support to our members and the communities we serve.

This holiday season, we are in the spirit of giving, but not because it’s our duty, because it’s important. We are living in unprecedented times and the holidays will be different this year, but there is one thing you can always count on, us.

From now until Christmas, our branches will be collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantries and BHCCU will match your donation. Red collection bins have been placed outside our branch doors and will be emptied regularly. Together, we can make a difference this Christmas!

See the below list to find out which food pantry your local branch is supporting.

  • Janesville Westside and Northside: The Salvation Army
  • Janesville Southside and Eastside: ECHO, Inc.
  • Milton: Milton Food Pantry
  • Beloit: Caritas Food Pantry
  • Edgerton: Edgerton Community Outreach
  • Delavan: Delavan Food Pantry
  • Stoughton: United Methodist Church
  • Kenosha: The Salvation Army

The coronavirus is everywhere in America, and so is hunger. In a New York Times Article, “Never Seen Anything Like It: Cars Line Up for Miles at Food Banks,it was reported that close to 10 million Americans reported losing their jobs in the second half of March 2020. Even before the current economic crisis, the Federal Reserve found that four in 10 American adults did not have the savings or resources to cover an unexpected $400 expense. Help us support our local food pantries as they work hard to collect essential items needed by many people.

The holidays are stressful enough and even more stressful when you are hungry.  We want to help reduce the burden felt by many this year and you can help us. Next time you visit your local branch, bring along some non-perishable food items that can help people not only get through the holidays, but enjoy them with their families.
