September 20, 2019 by Claire Timm

Janesville, Wis., – September 20, 2019Blackhawk Community Credit Union today announced the celebration of its official opening in Milton the evening of September 26. Residents of Milton are invited to its grand-opening celebration from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at 110 Parkview Drive. Festivities and outdoor activities for children include an obstacle course, a bounce house, a Taste of Milton serving local specialties, and a feature of nonprofits such as the Milton Area Youth Center and the Milton College Historical Society. WCLO will do a live remote during the Green Bay Packers pregame.

“Milton is the fastest growing part of Rock County. As the only credit union in Milton we are committed to showing residents the difference that a credit union makes in people’s lives. We are a permanent fixture now. Residents can look to us as a friendly source for personal finance expertise that can grow with their life needs. Their pride in small-town values aligns with our Blackhawk philosophies,” said Sherri Stumpf, CEO of Janesville-based Blackhawk Community Credit Union.

These philosophies focus on Blackhawk’s members and the many community organizations that support them too. Hundreds are expected to celebrate the opening, many who appreciate that Blackhawk honored its community by thoughtfully renovating the former Educators Credit Union. “Blackhawk Community Credit Union purchased and renovated the Educators Credit Union building into our newest branch. Our commitment to community is our mission for all generations. We focus on expanding financial wellness and other programs. Participants take this wisdom further into their communities. We thrive on this momentum,” said Teresa Riesterer, branch manager for Blackhawk Community Credit Union.

“Evidence of Blackhawk’s ripple effect for financial wellness is best demonstrated with the younger generation who go into their classrooms and pass this knowledge to their peers,” said Riesterer. Students also receive state certification from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development for time spent working at Blackhawk Community Credit Union.

“Milton High School and our district is fortunate to have Blackhawk Community Credit Union’s support by generously giving its time to teach financial wellness. Programs including Junior Achievement, School-to-Career, and Youth Apprenticeship lead to real-world education and the hiring of Milton’s students. Blackhawk helps prepare our students for the future with important foundational financial skills,” said Amy Kenyon, a Certified Career Services Provider and

School-to-Career Youth Apprenticeship coordinator for Milton High School.
